Question: How much water do you use flushing the toilet?

Materials: 

  • Chart below

  • Pencil to record 

Procedure:

  1. Put a chart near each toilet in your home.

  2. Ask your family to put a check mark on the paper each time they flush the toilet.

  3. At the end of the day add up

Conclusion:

Some toilets can use up to seven gallons of water to flush a toilet. Ultra-low flow toilets use only 1.6 gallons of water per flush. Ask your parents what other ways there are to save water when you flush.
