Welcome to the All Souls Rocket Club. Every Friday several children from Y6 go to Regents Park and set off different types of ROCKETS ! ! !
Some of the rockets we set off are Water rockets and Air rockets. To measure how high the rockets travel we use clinometers!
How to make a clinometer :
To make a clinometer you need :
3 pieces of wood
A template of a protactor
A template of an arrow
What you do :
1. Get 2 pieces of wood and make a 90 degree angle.
2.Get another piece of wood and put it horizontly across the 2 pieces of wood. 3. Take the template of the protacter and put it facing down on the side of the top piece of wood.
4. Take the arrow and pin it to the protactor on the bottom line under the 90 degree mark.
5.Make sure the arrow can swing freely and VOILA you have a clinometer.
How do I use it :
First of all you need a tan chart.
Set of a rocket and record the angle when at its highest peak. Find the angle on the chart and this is your TAN. Times the distance away from the rocket before you set it of and times it by the TAN. Whatever the answer that is the hight it was at its highest peak.
