Motion Photography
From ancient times, man has always been limited
in his exploration of the world. He has been limited to
that which he could plainly see. If something was too small, too
far, too fast or too slow, it remained unknown, uninvestigated
or unexplored. Even motion in plain view was lost to the human eye
if it moved too fast.
With the invention of the camera in the 1800s,
man was suddenly able to see bits and pieces of the world stopped
in time, ready for investigation. One man in particular,
Eadweard Muybridge, was fascinated at the possibility. Look
at his story here. Light, film speed and focus all play a part.
